A Book of the Seasons: February 18. (February moods)

The ground bare of snow
gathering nuts and apples
colors red and green.
February 18, 1851

Mosses on the rocks
look green where snow has melted--
one of the spring signs.

It is so warm that
I walk over the hill and
listen for spring birds.

A cloud in the west
can change the whole character
of the afternoon.

out-of-doors, in its own locality.”

A journal, a book that shall contain a record of all your joy.
"A stone fruit. Each one yields me a thought." ~ H. D. Thoreau, March 28, 1859

I sit on this rock
wrestling with the melody
that possesses me.
