Dedication of the [Museum] at Cambridge.
EDK, November 13, 1860
"The Louis Agassiz Museum of Comparative Zoology" was dedicated November 13, 1860. "Agassiz designed his museum to show the comparative anatomy of different organisms, intneding to provide proof to support his vehement opposition to the evolution theories of Charles Darwin." But, as Alfred Russel Wallace remarked upon visiting the MCZ in 1887: “It is surely an anomaly that the naturalist who was most opposed to the theory of evolution should be the first to arrange his museum in such a way as to best illustrate that theory.”
