Clear, cold, and windy

February 25

Clear, cold, and windy.

Thermometer at 7° at 7.30 A.M. Air filled with dust blowing over the fields. Feel the cold about as much as when it was below zero a month ago.

Pretty good skating.

H. D. Thoreau, Journal, February 25, 1855

Pretty good skating. See February 3, 1855 ("This will deserve to be called the winter of skating.");

Clear cold and windy –
cold as if below zero.
Pretty good skating.

wrestling with the melody
that possesses me.
